So many great things to see and do uptown, and never enough time. Here are some ideas to get you started:

 

The Harlem Chamber Players Annual Bach Concert

Friday, November 16, 7pm

One of the Harlem Chamber Players' most popular annual concerts is finally here. Tonight's performance by this diverse group of musicians will feature four pieces by J.S. Bach, including the famous Double Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins featuring Joyce Hammann and Claire Chan.

 

The Wiz & 40th Anniversary Celebration

Sunday, November 18, pre-show: 4:30pm, movie: 5pm

Watch Diana Ross and company ease on down the road at the United Palace's 40th anniversary celebration of "The Wiz." Come early for the pre-show performance by Shanice Williams, who starred as Dorothy in NBC's The Wiz, Live.

 

25th Annual Harlem Holiday Lights

Monday, November 19, 7pm

Join Grand Marshal Dapper Dan for the festive lighting of 125th Street's holiday banners, from Fifth to 12th Avenues. (This event was moved from last Thursday due to the weather.) Look for dozens of in-store activities and promotions along Harlem's biggest shopping strip, including free hot cocoa from the soon-to-open Shake Shack.

 

Apollo Presents Ta-Nehisi Coates in Conversation

Monday, November 19, 7pm

Author Ta-Nehisi Coates ("Between the World and Me") and journalist Nikole Hannah-Jones discuss the state of American politics after the midterm elections. Attendees will receive a paperback copy of Coates' "We Were Eight Years in Power," a collection of essays exploring the election of Trump after eight years of Obama.
