Harlem Restaurant Week kicks off today, and this year the event–originally launched in 2010–unites businesses from Central, West and East Harlem for the very first time.
For the following two weeks, up to 40 restaurants will be offering special prix fixe menus and dishes to promote Harlem's growing food scene.
Participating eateries include world-famous Harlem destinations like Sylvia's (try the South Carolina Rum Punch for $10), hot spots like Red Rooster (there's a special spiced lamb Rooster Chopped Cheese), as well as new arrivals such as JJ Johnson's rice-focused Field Trip (pay $20 for a rice bowl, drink and yucca chips) and the Ruby Dee-inspired Ruby's Vintage (a drink, appetizer and entree from the special menu are $30).
