Zilia Sánchez: Soy Isla (I Am an Island)

El Museo del Barrio, 1230 Fifth Ave between E 104th and E 105th Sts

This first-ever retrospective of Cuban-born artist Zilia Sánchez includes the 93-year-old's minimalist, often-erotic "topologies," the large-scale shaped canvases that make up the bulk of her work since the '60s.

 

The Harlem Chamber Players Annual Bach Concert

Friday, Nov 22 at 7pm; $20

Broadway Presbyterian Church, 601 W 114th St and Broadway

Looking for examples of diversity in the world of classical music? Look no further than the Harlem Chamber Players, the nine-year-old collective of professional musicians based in Harlem. For its annual tribute to Bach, the group will present an evening of concertos and arias, including the Brandenburg Concerto No. 4 in G major.

 

Live Radio Play: The Renaissance EP–a Theatrical Mixtape

Beat boxing, tap dancing, singing and more come together in this novel "mixtape" retelling of the Harlem Renaissance.

 

Ballet Hispánico

The work of three female choreographers will glide across the stage at this year's performance by the contemporary Latino dance company. Tickets in the Upper Mezzanine are only $13.50!
