As the year draws to a close, here's a look back at some of your favorite posts, with a few fun comments sprinkled in:
Your personal takes on the most Instagrammable spots in Upper Manhattan are what really bring this always-changing roundup to life. Here's @msbobb on the "Crack Is Wack" mural, a recent addition: "As a woman from the Bronx, I've driven [past] this sign at least 1x a week for my whole life. It's a beautiful constant [in] the constantly changing city."
Instagrammer @newyorkblackarts responded to this post on holiday nostalgia rides with the following comment: "Love trains. Love history. Love NYC. Love nostalgia!" It's clear that many of you agree. (P.S. Don't forget that Sunday, December 29 is your last chance to hop on a vintage train this year.)
If there's a Harlem spot with a hidden backyard patio, you definitely wanted to know about it.
You couldn't wait to get a glimpse of "In the Heights" filming around Washington Heights and Inwood. Capturing Jimmy Smits was an unexpected bonus ("Jimmy is so 🔥❤️❤️❤️" wrote @causeandyvette).
Harlem's full of beautiful streets, and you loved this roundup of the top seven. A picture of Astor Row on Instagram really got you going: "This block takes me to another dimension. Future home goals!" said @loch_vnessie_.
One of Harlem's biggest cultural losses in recent years was the closing of the Lenox Lounge. Especially heartbreaking was seeing a branch of Wells Fargo replace the Art Deco gem earlier this year. Instagrammer @allthingscappuccino might have said it best: "In the words of Florida Evans: "DAMN, DAMN, DAMN!!!!"
