The Apollo Theater in Harlem

• Did you hear Oprah was at the Apollo yesterday? She was getting back to her talk show roots hosting SuperSoul Conversations, including interviews with Salma Hayek, Stephen Colbert, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Yara Shahidi, Trevor Noah, and Jordan Peele– plus 2 Dope Queens! The special will air on Tuesday, February 27 on OWN. (She also dropped by Red Rooster after the show–here's proof.)

• Singer and dancer Teyana Taylor announced she's opening a '90s-themed nail salon this month in Harlem called Junie Bee Nails.

• Uptown's branching out downtown: Marcus Samuelsson just opened a mini version of his casual chicken joint Streetbird Rotisserie called Streetbird Express at Madison Square Garden. (And just in time for the Westminster Dog Show!)

• Here's a fascinating photo essay of Harlem in the mid-20th century, with everything from dancers swaying at the Savoy Ballroom to kids having fun on the streets.

• Seven uptown spots, from Minton's to Mother Zion, made it onto Curbed NY's list of 15 historic sites to visit for Black History Month.

• Chef JJ Johnson and Alexander Smalls' new cookbook, "Between Harlem and Heaven," is finally out. Johnson tells the New York Post his next project is raising money for his own restaurant–possibly to be located in Harlem.

• Been meaning to visit the Harlem brownstone where Langston Hughes lived the last 20 years of his life? Here's a nice little video preview.
