Uptown Links: the future of 125th Street includes a Shake Shack, a Marriott hotel, and the final sto

• The foundation for the Victoria Theater redevelopment on 125th Street is now complete, which means the building–set to be one of the tallest in Harlem and the future home of a Marriott hotel–will be rising soon. [New York YIMBY]

• First Chipotle, now Shake Shack. The popular New York-based burger chain has announced it will be putting down stakes on a short stretch of 125th Street between Lenox and Fifth Avenues. The restaurant will be located at 1 W 125th Street–most recently an Applebee's. [Harlem + Bespoke]

• The MTA has released more information about the planned Second Avenue Subway extension to 125th Street: Construction might start by the end of next year, and service could begin sometime between 2027 and 2029. [PIX11]

• The lovely Beaux Arts firehouse at 6 Hancock Place, home of the Faison Firehouse Theater, has been put on the market. [6sqft]

• It was fun to find two uptown spots on Curbed NY's listicle, "101 things to love about New York City." Number 42 is Sylvan Terrace: "This charming, cobblestone street, lined with wood-frame houses from the 19th century, is a reminder of New York City before it became overrun by skyscrapers. See if you can spot it the next time you re-watch Boardwalk Empire." [Curbed NY]

Eater NY restaurant critic Robert Sietsema pays a visit to Famous Fish Market, which he says "fries up some of the city’s best and most generous fish sandwiches." [Eater NY]

• Mile 10 of Fran Leadon's new book, "Broadway: A History of New York City in Thirteen Miles," includes the area around Alexander Hamilton's farmhouse, the Grange–today, of course, known as Hamilton Heights. [NY Times]
