Movies at the Palace 2024 continues with two more screenings under this year's theme, "Season of Friendship."
The uptown film series, taking place at the historic United Palace in Washington Heights, returns next month with two comedies: the Mel Brooks satire "The Producers" on Friday, May 3 at 7pm and the Marx Brothers classic "Duck Soup" on Sunday, May 19 at 7pm.
The screening of "Duck Soup" will be followed by a talk between The New Yorker's Adam Gopnik and Noah Diamond, a writer, performer and founding member of the Marxfest Committee.
Tickets ($5) can be purchased in advance on the United Palace website.
The "Season of Friendship" theme, chosen by the theater's fans earlier this year, includes a total of nine movies. The remaining six are listed here without dates.
Note: this film series is separate from the one hosted by friend and patron Lin-Manuel Miranda, which kicked off in February. The actor will not be in attendance.
Movies at the Palace also offers a unique opportunity to see the landmark venue's spectacularly decorated interior up-close.
Built in 1930, the United Palace was one of five Loew’s “Wonder Theatres" and includes a 3,000-plus-seat auditorium.
