The Studio Museum in Harlem finally has an opening date for its new building.
The highly-anticipated 82,000-square-foot space at 144 W 125th Street between Lenox Avenue and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard—replacing the museum's old building in the same location—is set to open its doors on November 15, 2025.
The opening will be celebrated with a Community Day that will include not just exhibitions and workshops inside the museum, but also performances, games and giveaways in the Adam Clayton Powell Jr. State Office Building Plaza directly across the street.
Its regular hours after that will be Wednesday-Sunday from 11am-6pm. The suggested admission price for adults will be $16.

The Studio Museum will inaugurate its new Adjaye Associates-designed home with an exhibition featuring the work of artist Tom Lloyd—who was also the subject of the Studio Museum's first-ever show in 1968. Approximately 20 artworks by Lloyd will be exhibited in the building's barrel-vaulted, double-height ceiling gallery.
Works from the permanent collection from artists such as Romare Bearden, Dawoud Bey, and Jordan Casteel will be installed on the second and fourth floors.
The museum will also have a roof terrace, designed by Harlem-based landscape design firm Studio Zewde.
