It's a confusing time for fans of Harlem's Uptown Night Market.
After going weekly and moving to an old parking lot in early May, the outdoor food festival surprised its followers on social media on Friday by announcing this would be the market's last season—and it would be going back to its original monthly schedule for four final dates under the arches on 12th Avenue.
"For a couple of years now, we've been working on something bigger and better," read one of the messages from Uptown Night Market on Instagram. "Uptown was incredibly successful and for four years was the best thing that ever happened to us; but it's time to move forward and pursue new challenges."
Despite the news about Uptown Night Market's final season, its move from the former Fairway parking lot back to street was greeted positively by some: "The event lost its feel in that deserted area every week I'm actually happy it's going back," wrote one commenter on Instagram.
The next Uptown Night Market will take place on Thursday, July 10, followed by three more dates on the second Thursday of every month (through October).
The location will be 12th Avenue between W 133rd and W 135th Streets.
As always there will be a range of vedors hawking food, drinks and gifts—plus live music and entertainment.
Hours remain 4pm-10pm.
Coming by subway? Take the 1 train to 125th St. Entrance is free.
