Head to The Honeywell in Hamilton Heights for "extraordinary" cocktails

The New Yorker stopped by Hamilton Heights basement cocktail bar The Honeywell, marveling at the '70s kitsch and its "extraordinary drinks" such as the Monk Fashion and the Tiger Beet.

• Harlem newcomer Clay made it onto Time Out New York's list of "best brunch[es] in NYC to try right now." The mag is impressed at how it turns "tired 'farm-to-table' on its head."

6sqft named East Harlem's Urban Garden Center one of New York City's 10 best plant shops. If you "want to spend a few hours walking through a veritable garden, it’s a good spot to check out."

• Top Chef Season 15 runner-up Adrienne Cheatham hosted the first dinner in her SundayBest pop-up dinner series at Ginny's Supper Club this past Sunday. The dishes–made for people to "think of Soul Food in another way"–included cornbread madeleines with tomato jam, a foie gras-filled red velvet macaron, and seared pork loin with boudin.

• The Weinstein Company lost the movie rights to Lin-Manuel Miranda's musical In the Heights, and now there's a rumor that even bigger fish like Disney might be interested in the film.

• The performance of "Dougla" by the brightly costumed Dance Theatre of Harlem last weekend at City Center "had a sense of occasion, of majesty, as in the good old days," writes The New York Times.

• Choreographer Donald McKayle, who recently died, was strongly affected by his Harlem childhood: "Dance was a part of the McKayles’s life in their Harlem neighborhood, crowded with West Indian immigrants. Donald remembered going with his parents to the Renaissance Ballroom and watching his father pretend to dance on the job, wearing steel-wool pads on his feet as he mopped the floor."
