Uptown Links: U2's coming to the Apollo, and more

• U2 will play the Apollo Theater in June. Here's your chance to hear "Angel of Harlem" in Harlem (how could they not sing it?), although you have to be a SiriusXM subscriber to get tickets. [NY Post]

• "Creating Spaces," a two-day auction at Sotheby's to benefit the Studio Museum in Harlem's new building, kicked off last night with the sale of five paintings. Hip hop artist and producer Swizz Beatz was there and won the portrait "An Assistance of Amber" by Lynette Yiadom-Boakye. "It's time for us to buy more of us," he said. [Bloomberg]

• The brand-new Rennie condos–which replaced Harlem's historic Renaissance Ballroom–are about to hit the market. The developer says the average price will be $780,000. [Curbed NY]

• If you're still not clear about what the Harlem EatUp! festival entails–the main event is this weekend–watch this segment with Marcus Samuelsson and Melba Wilson, who lay it all out. [ABC7NY]

• A former Japanese pop star moves to a Harlem brownstone right next to a church–and is now a gospel singer on the rise. [NY Times]

• According to Royal Jelly Harlem co-owner Teta Gorgoni, choosing one of the brand's outfits says the wearer is "willing to live outside the box. They can buck convention and still be fashionable. I think the message is: ‘I’m bold.’ And boldness, for us, is a virtue.” [CBS New York]

• A new biography of Harlem Renaissance writer Alain Locke takes a deep dive into his personal life. A dandy who was just under five feet tall, Locke forged relationships with the era's luminaries–both intellectually and in the bedroom (the latter not always successfully). [The New Yorker]

The Daily Beast stops by the new Faction Art Projects gallery near Strivers' Row to check out the recent "Harlem Perspectives" show featuring local artists. “It’s not that we discovered Harlem," says co-curator Richard Scarry. "It’s just that we believe in this area." [The Daily Beast]

• A New York image consultant moves from FiDi to Harlem, but ends up buying a two-bedroom on the Grand Concourse in the Bronx. [NY Times]
