Carousel season kicks off this weekend in Riverbank State Park, home of the utterly one-of-a-kind Totally Kid Carousel.
You'll have three full days to enjoy the fun ride, from Saturday, May 29 to Monday, May 31. After that the carousel will remain open on weekends through July 4.
As spring turns to summer, the schedule gets even better. Expanded summer hours start on July 7, including Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
At heart, the ride is a spectacular piece of public art—artist Milo Mottola based the funky flamingos, octopuses and other colorful animals on children's drawings. It just happens to have moving parts and be geared towards kids.
Bonus: The carousel has amazing views of the Hudson River.
The 2021 schedule is also online, but here's a quick look. Tickets, sold at the entrance to the carousel, are $1 per ride.
