A McDonald's restaurant is coming to a historic Harlem building.
Recently posted construction notices reveal the fast food chain is moving into a ground-floor space inside the Bernheimer Building at 101-111 W 116th Street, located on the corner of Lenox Avenue/Malcolm X Boulevard.
The elegant two-story property was originally constructed as an office building in 1906.
Over the years tenants have included the Mutual Alliance Trust Company, Woolworth, the Harlem World Club, and Conway's.

Today the building is home to businesses such as Amy Ruth's and the Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market, which moved there temporarily last winter while it awaits a new home across the street.
Construction on the McDonald's is expected to finish in November.
