The coldest days of the year are here, but that doesn't mean you have to be stuck on the couch.
Here are six ways to get out there this winter in Harlem and beyond. And, yes, each is 100% The Curious Uptowner-approved:
1. Go ice skating. Now that the gleaming new Davis Center has opened in Central Park's north end, Harlem is back to having two spots to go ice skating: the Gottesman Rink (formerly Lasker Rink) in said park and the covered outdoor ice rink in Riverbank State Park.
2. Warm up at a neighborhood coffee spot. Pick a comfy corner at one of Harlem's many coffee shops and enjoy a warm latte, hot chocolate—you name it.
3. Get sweaty at a local fitness studio. Harlem's got a long list of unique gyms and studios offering yoga (some of it hot), Pilates, spinning and much more.

4. Immerse yourself in live jazz. Harlem's jazz scene is alive and well, from the daily music schedule at Red Rooster to the monthly Monday night jam sessions at the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. Harlem Late Night Jazz is a great resource for the latest events.
5. Pick your favorite hill to go sledding. Even if there's no snow on the ground, these hilly parks offer much-needed tranquility from our busy urban lives.
6. Surround yourself with art—indoors. Upper Manhattan has become quite the art destination, including the newly reopened Studio Museum in Harlem, the always-evolving El Museo del Barrio and the exquisitely beautiful Met Cloisters, to name just a few.
