Two more outdoor pools just opened in Harlem

Harlem's leafy Jackie Robinson Pool is now open.

Two more free outdoor pools opened in Harlem this weekend: the Olympic-sized Jackie Robinson at 146th Street and Bradhurst Avenue and Marcus Garvey at Fifth Avenue and 124th Street.

They join Wagner Pool at E 124th Street between First and Second Avenues, which opened at the end of July.

(If you don't mind paying a bit of money—$1 for children, $2 for adults—there's also the outdoor pool at Riverbank State Park on 145th Street).

Due to the pandemic, New York City's outdoor pool season started late this year, kicking off in two phases, July 24 and August 1. And the total number of open pools is much smaller: only 15 across the entire city.

All city pools are operating at reduced capacity; patrons must wear a mask to enter the facility and keep six feet apart.

Outdoor pool season runs through Monday, September 7.
